Process Definition |
Process Definition ProcDef - Oxford Software Engineering's structured approach
OSEL's ProcDef is a framework, guidance and a set of tools to enable practices and activities within organisations to be captured as defined processes and then described as procedures and guidelines. Once captured, staff can be trained and the practices promoted within the organisation.
The 5 stages of ProcDef are:
- Modelling
Derive a reasonable draft process model.- Data Gathering and Refinement
Refine the draft process model on the basis of data.- Identification
Identify generic processes and existing best practices.- Production and Validation
Produce materials and gain acceptance.- Publication
Introduce the materials to the organisation in a controlled manner. The ProcDef framework is the means by which the essential tasks are managed e.g. technical review, practitioner buy-in, and management review.
